Preparing young athletes for a successful future, on and off the field

California Lightning is based in the North Bay and is one of Marin County’s PREMIER travel baseball programs. We offer advanced skills training and competitive tournament play for high performing youth baseball players.

 

Our goal is to develop skills for high school, college and beyond.

We hold Study Hall on practice days from 4-7pm: Don't want to deal with traffic? Need to be in two places at once?

Early drop-off or late pick-up available, and we'll help make sure your kids stay on top of their homework!

The Best Coaching Staff in the Bay Area

All of our coaches played college or professional baseball and have at least three years experience coaching youth baseball. Nick Kuroczko, David Barnes, Kyle Hansen, Axel Johnson, Josh Leveron and Jay Bayler have over 50 years of coaching experience, combined.

Jay Bayler

Bio: Jonathan “Jay” Bayler, (native of Chicago, Illinois) has LIVED & BREATHED BASEBALL SINCE HE WAS BORN! Jay has been passing down his love & knowledge of the game to youth teams & players for decades starting in Elgin, Illinois. Bayler played high school ball for Elgin Larkin, IL (Class of 1980). He earned 2 degrees at Iowa State University (NCAA D-1), graduating in exercise physiology & business. After his playing days ended Bayler took the head baseball job at Elgin Community College where he coached for 10 years.  Jay also scouted for the Texas Rangers for 11 years. Bayler, (currently residing in Greenbrae, CA) is also a father of 2 boys & loves to coach, instruct, and train baseball & softball players of the future! He is known as a technical and tactical coach, understanding skills and how to teach them to the many different audiences.  Whether it is a group of Little Leaguers, select team, or a Professional coming in for a tune up Jay puts his heart, soul, and experience into every game, lesson, camp, clinic, and tournament!

Nick Kuroczko

Bio: Nick Kuroczko, (San Rafael, CA native), who grew up playing San Rafael Little League, has been around baseball all his life. After earning the “2006 MCAL Player Of The Year” award & leading Marin Catholic to multiple championships he was recruited to the University of Utah (NCAA Division-1), where he then led Utah to winning the university’s first Mountain West Conference Championship in school history (2009). After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree Nick played 4 years professionally in Chicago (Frontier League: 2010-2011 WCT, 2012 SCH) & Texas (United League: 2013 FWC) before starting his career as a coach, instructor, & co-owner of Linedrive. In 2014 Kuroczko coached: youth select teams, Ross Valley Little League 10U All-Stars to winning their first District Championship in over 20 years (as Trainer), and was the JV assistant coach at his alma mater Marin Catholic, helping coach the wildcats to winning a JV championship pennant.
